Awarded Contract for
Rainwater Harvesting Project
at the Huntington Train Station
The main entrance to the Huntington Train Station will soon look “GREEN”. The town has awarded a Rainwater Harvesting project to the Deck and Patio Company in Huntington Station New York. The new Rainwater Harvesting system is called Rainxchange, and will harvest rainwater through a permiable paver walkway at the corner of New York Avenue and Broadway. The system will collect, clean and recirculate the water and then use it to irrigate the plants that surround the beautiful waterfall and stream. When heavy rain fills the system, excess water will run out through a rain garden which will detain the water and allow it to perk through the amended soil and back into the aquifer. This project was the brainchild of Bill Renter of the Deck and Patio Company as a way of helping his community, and creating a sustainable and decorative waterfeature right down the street from his office. The project is expected to be built in late May 2011.

The Deck and Patio Company will display 1,000 square feet of today most sought after outdoor products at 3 Home Shows this spring. It started with the Home Show at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood NY, from February 18 - 20, 2011. Check out the story and photos on out Facebook Page.
ASLA Survey Shows Top
Outdoor Living Trends for 2011
Washington, D.C., March 2, 2011 – Homeowners want function, efficiency and fire pits in their outdoor space, according to the 2011 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Residential Trends Survey. For 2011, the top outdoor living features are some of the most basic: light, fire, food and a place to sit and enjoy it all. Overall, 96.2 percent of respondents rated exterior lighting as somewhat or very popular for this year, followed by fire pits/fireplaces (94.2 percent), seating/dining areas (94.1 percent), grills (93.8 percent) and installed seating like benches or seat walls (89.5 percent). Deck and Patio on ABC's
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Thanks to Alure Home Improvements and 4D Landscaping, the Deck and Patio Company is proud and honored to have been a part of helping a Long Island family in need through ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
We were so excited to be able to volunteer to help those in our community. On Monday, June 14th, a pep rally was held at Suffolk County Sports Park in Central Islip, NY for volunteers interested in being part of this amazing experience.
Later that week, we were able to help construct the front steps of the house. Our crew woke up at 4:30 am to be on the job site by 6:00 am, and did not quit working until 9:30 that night! We are so proud of all of our volunteers, and so thankful to have had this amazing experience.

The Deck and Patio Company was at the
Architectural Digest Home Design Show
from March 18 - 21, 2010.
We were proud to be part of this prestigious show, as one of only two landscape design build companies chosen to exhibit at there. Our display had the look of a roof top deck and garden. It featured TREX Decking, a concrete and TREX pergola, a waterfeature, green roof landscaping and beautiful contemporary outdoor furniture.
